Why larch outlasts everything around it.

Siberian larch grows in the taiga of central Siberia, where long, brutal winters slow it to a crawl. The result is a softwood that behaves like a hardwood — tight-grained, dense, and saturated with natural resin.

That resin is the point. It resists rot and decay without any chemical treatment, and the density makes it hard for anything to take hold. Left alone, it lasts for decades and weathers to a quiet silver-grey.

08 / FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is Siberian larch and why is it so durable? +

Siberian larch is a slow-grown softwood from the taiga of central Siberia. The harsh climate makes it exceptionally dense (650–700 kg/m³ when dried) and rich in natural resin, giving high resistance to rot, decay and wear — one of the toughest, most durable softwoods available.

How much can I save buying direct? +

Because we source directly from Siberian sawmills with no middlemen, customers typically save up to 70% compared with imported timber bought through major New Zealand retailers.

What products and profiles do you supply? +

We supply Siberian larch as rough-sawn kiln-dried timber, or moulded into decking, cladding, flooring and paneling profiles — suitable for interior and exterior, residential and commercial work.

Where can I pick up the timber in New Zealand? +

We hold stock in three locations: Auckland (head office, 81 Dunkirk Rd, Panmure), Christchurch (Belfast Timber Processing) and Dunedin (Wood Solutions). You’re welcome to view the timber or arrange collection — just get in touch.

Does Siberian larch need much maintenance? +

Very little. Its high density and natural resin give a virtually maintenance-free service life and rot resistance without chemical treatment. Left untreated it weathers to silver-grey; it can also be oiled or charred to suit your look.

How do I get a quote and how long does it take? +

Use the enquiry form below or call 021 109 81 93 with your product, quantity and pickup town. We come back with pricing and availability, usually within one business day.
